Start Your Summer Off Right

4 Tips For The Ultimate Off-Season

Summer is that special time of year we all wait so long for—and yet it seems to go by in a flash! You may go into the season envisioning all the trips you’ll take, relaxation you’ll get or down time you’ll enjoy to get organized; yet if you’re like most, those lazy days of summer are often anything but. If you want to really make the most of the summer of 2023, take some time now to get planning, think about where you want your focus to be and commit yourself to following through.

Here are four opportunities to make this summer your best yet:

Make time for yourself

Easier said than done, of course! One thing we all likely wish we had more of in the summer is time because—between trips, work, social obligations and more—our investment in ourselves always drops to the bottom of the priority list. Instead, put yourself at the top this year! Always wanted to take a day off, drive to a beach and spend the whole day with your favorite book and the waves? Go for it! Or make small, daily changes, like committing to a morning yoga session, carving out time before bed to catch up on your favorite show or even allotting a little spending money from your paycheck for some regular retail therapy. When you feel like you’re treating you well, your mental, emotional and physical health will be stronger—and that can set you up for loads of success this summer.

Try something new

One of the best ways to feel your best is by challenging yourself! This summer, aim to pick up a new skill, visit a new spot or try out a new activity. Even if you’re a bit nervous to step out of your comfort zone, even taking that step can be a huge confidence booster—and you just may surprise yourself.

Think about your future

While most people want to leave work in the office and focus on the sunshine in the summer, it can be helpful to incorporate work and play together. If you’re looking for a night out on the town with friends, check out a networking happy hour so you can socialize and perhaps make some valuable connections at the same time. Or if you’re chilling out on the couch in the air conditioning, flip off the TV and spend a few minutes instead polishing up your resume. When you take small steps like these in your down time, it’ll make your busy time less stressful.

Set (and stick!) to goals

Who says New Year’s is the only time for resolutions? As we settle into summer, make a plan for what you want this season to look like—personally, professionally and everything in between. You can even write it down and stick it to the fridge so you remind yourself every day all that you want to accomplish, and all the ways you’re looking to enjoy yourself, this summer.
