Minority Mental Health Month

Minority Mental Health Month

Minority Mental Health Month

It’s no secret to most: The U.S. is in a significant mental health crisis. The pandemic shone an important light on the mental health struggles many Americans were already going through, and thankfully made big inroads for reducing stigma around mental health. But for many, the challenges persist; in particular, minority Americans are at risk for poorer mental health outcomes, which may be connected to issues like inequal access to healthcare and resources, according to the CDC.

That’s why efforts like Minority Mental Heath Month this July are so valuable! Just as the events of the last few years have illustrated, raising awareness about mental health can go a long way toward supporting individuals and systems. We can all do our part to keep the conversation going! This is particularly critical in a work setting, where your employer can have a big role to play in supporting your health and wellness.

What is Minority Mental Health Month?

At Integrity Staffing Solutions, we feel passionate when it comes to raising awareness about inequality, and that idea is at the core of Minority Mental Health Month.

This is an opportunity for employees and leaders to learn together about the particular challenges that minority Americans may face, to share stories and community, and to work together to come up with solutions. Mental health affects us all, so we all need to work together!

Embracing wellness throughout the year

While Minority Mental Health Month is a key driver of progress on health equity, we believe that’s a concept that all employers should commit to year-round!

Equal access and opportunity are core to how Integrity Staffing Solutions operates. Our investment in diversity, equity and inclusion intersects directly with our belief in the wellbeing of our workforces. We have seen that when associates are empowered to bring their full selves to work, and feel as supported and valued day in and day out as the person working next to them—that’s when they find their passion and potential. And a positive associate experience can lead to wins for both the employee and the employer!

How do we put equity into action at Integrity? All associates are eligible for leading healthcare benefits that go into effect after your very first shift—giving you the immediate opportunity to care for your health and that of your family. This access can go a long way toward strengthening physical, mental and financial health—all of which work together to support wellbeing.

At the same time, associates can access pay on-demand to help meet pressing financial needs, as well as lifesaving resources like housing support. We extend the same investment to the communities in which our associates work, such as through an ongoing partnership with an agency serving homeless youth. Integrity believes that when we elevate each person to where they can thrive, we are all better off. That’s the spirit behind our ongoing development and training opportunities; we want all of our associates to have the skills they need for today and those they want for tomorrow.

With this type of actionable support, associates can invest in their own mental health—both during this Minority Mental Health Month and throughout the year!
